CIVIL DEPARTMENT
The Civil Department handles the filing of all civil suits, clerk suits, adoptions, successions; all matter relating to indexing; maintains docket and minute book; and records all costs associated with suits. Civil and probate must pass through this department to reach the Court for trial. For rapid access each lawsuit, succession, and criminal matter is entered on a docket, assigned a number and indexed in the names of all parties involved.
The Civil Depart also has the responsibility of the following:
- Issues citations, writs, subpoenas, etc.
- Maintains daily minutes of the Court which contain summary of all proceedings in each civil and probate matters
- Pleadings, petitions, answers, exceptions, motions, and judgments are filed in suit records for each case
- Scan the above into computer imaging system
